If the rumors hold true, the next iPhone could feature a nearly indestructible and perhaps flexible sapphire screen. That sound you hear is Apple is going for something new to prove its power in the smartphone market.
A video released recently shows a alleged iPhone 6’s display screen, that is said to be made up of Sapphire glass crystal that is withstanding some pretty serious scratches and stabs from a hunting knife and some keys.
It’s an impressive demonstration that, along with other rumors that the next iPhone’s screen could also be curved or flexible, means that those like myself who give a hard time to their devices wont have to worry about it if it falls.
In the past, simply dropping a device sometimes from great heights has been used as a testing method, but to literally scratch the surface of sapphire screen is probably going to take a little more skills.
First, I would be also interested in seeing how a sapphire screen stands up to some extreme cold. Like a situation if I am in antartica, when my battery is inevitably dead and I am unable to take that once-in-a-lifetime shot and I stab my iPhone 6 screen with the ice axe in frustration, will it still hold up?
The video, published by Markus Brownlee, shows a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 front panel. It is identical to the iPhone 5S front, but scaled up by about 50%. The iPhone 6 screen aspect ratio appears to be the same 16:9 as the iPhone 5S, but the resolution of the iPhone 6 will step up to 1920×1080 or maybe even higher, if Apple wants to reclaim the pixels-per-inch crown. The panel came from famed iPhone leaker Sonny Dickson, who appears to be well connected with Apple’s Chinese production line.
If this really is the iPhone 6 front cover, it’s significant for a couple of major reasons. First, with a display diagonal of at 4.7 inches, this would be a massive departure from the iPhones methods. In the iPhone’s seven-year history, the screen size has only changed once before and that was more of an aspect ratio adjustment than anything else, A 4.7-inch screen, presumably with a 1920×1080 or 2560×1440 LCD display, would put the iPhone 6 on a much more even footing with other superphones from Samsung, HTC, and Nokia.
But these are all from other news sources except from Apple it self, We cant be certain of anything until we see something directly from the Apple, For that I guess we will have to wait till September or October, when mostly Apple releases its new device. We will keep you updated as we get more news or rumours on iPhone 6.
