Although Nexus 6 is not hauled as Nexus 5 was, but still its a great smartphone and one of the best Smartphone in the market these days, Although nexus series of Google were considered very affordable and Nexus smartphones were considered the best when the price and quality ratio was discussed, But Nexus 6 turned out to be expensive thats why less people have bought it as compared to nexus 5, But if you own a nexus 6, then check out our tips and tricks that you are surely going to love.

Before moving on to the Nexus 6 tips and tricks, let us first give a look at the hardware specifications of this device, which is developed by Motorola with the collaboration of Google, Nexus 6 has dimensions of 159.3 x 83 x 10.1 mm and its weight is 184 grams,It is  water resistant, best part of Nexus 6 is its 6 inch AMOLED display screen and it has resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and with pixel resolution of 493 ppi.

Guest Mode and Screen Pinning

Everyone has personal stuff in their smartphone and while giving someone your phone for a task, yo are always worried about if they are going to lurk into different places, In Android 5.0 Lollipop you can save your personal stuff from being lurked into with the feature of screen pinning and multi-user support for phones.

Screen Pinning is a new feature that allows the user to “pin” a specific app so the person using your Nexus 6 can’t go to places in your phone you dont want him to. Screen Pinning can be turned on in Settings > Security > Screen pinning, then you can choose what app to pin from the Multitask menu.

If you have to give your phone to someone for sometime, then you can enable the guest mode, so that they wont access your private stuff, Its same like if you have more than one user of a tablet, you can create different accounts. it can be enabled from the Quick Settings menu.

Battery Saver

Nexus 6 has massive battery that is of 3,220 mAh battery and its provides great battery time, still if you want full coverage of where you spend most of your battery power, Android 5.0 Lollipop has introduced a new feature thats called Battery Saver whose purpose is to help you save battery.

Battery saver is greatly reduces performance of Nexus 6 to enhance Battery life,It turns off vibrations and animations and restricts background data. You can set the device to turn on Battery saver when the power it left at 5% or 10%

Go to Settings > Battery and change the settings as you want battery saver to be.


App Notifications

Now you can manage which notifications you want on your lock screen, You can choose privacy and priority settings for each app, that would allows you to block or allow the notifications on the lock screen.

You can control notifications from either Settings > Sound & Notification > App notifications another way to change App notifications is to tap and hold lock screen notification then press the info button that appears on the right. You can choose to Block notifications for a certain app, to set their Priority or
hide personal stuff from a notification.

Smart Lock

If you have pattern or code for phone unlock, then you might know how annoying it is a times, Now on nexus 6 you can use Smart lock feature< In which the device recognize the trusted place and doesnot locks itself in that place, it also has Face unlock feature that is with the name trusted face. You can access these setting fro Setting > Security > Smart lock

The device uses NFC or Bluetooth to recognize a trusted place, its quite a nice feature

Lock Screen Shortcuts

There are some new shortcuts introduced in the new operating system and Nexus 6, you might have seen two icons on the lower left and right corner of Lock screen.You can access Camera app by swiping left and get to the Dialer app by swapping right.

Record 4K Videos

Nexus 6 allows you do record 4K videos, But in most of the cases its not turned on by default.

You can enable 4K video recording open the default Google Camera app,You can just swipe from the left side to open the menu, then tap settings icon. Move to Resolution & Quality, There you will find an option for UHD 4K resolution for the Back camera video.


OK Google Command When Nexus 6 Is Locked

Now you can use “Ok Google” Command to access the phone to search Google or paly music and do things without even holding your phone. its a great feature and can be very helpful while answering texts or calls while taking shower in bathroom.

In order to use this feature, first you will have to actuvate it, For that go to  Google Now, Swipe left to pull out menu, Where you will see Settings, Select  “Voice” and Enable “OK Google Detection.” And there you can select the options of “Always on” and “When locked”, For the first time you will have to record your voice sample.
