Huawei hasn’t upped its Honor Magic 2 reveal game. As of now, we haven’t received any confirmation on when Huawei is going to come out with Honor Magic 2. The photo and video reveal made by Huawei itself say a lot about the upcoming phone. And Honor Magic 2 sure is something. It looks crisp, clean and features some sort of a sliding mechanism in the video. The purpose of this sliding mechanism is that it lets you hide front-facing cameras behind the screen. This cancels out the utility for a display notch. The brief video doesn’t reveal much. On the outside Honor 2 looks something like a red colored One Plus 6. First things first, watch the video.
As it turns out, Honor Magic 2 won’t be formally announced this week either. I guess Huawei wanted to give it major hype before announcing the release dates.
Honor Magic 2: Specifications
Honor Magic 2 works on the lines of Huawei P20 Pro in terms of its design. Bezel reduction is the key in smartphones of today, including the Honor Magic 2. The front camera is an obstacle to bezel reduction display now. Hence the display notch is introduced. We aren’t too excited about the display notch, so obviously something had to be done. That is exactly why Huawei has introduced the sliding mechanism. Other ways to remove this display notch are a popup front-facing camera or a motorized bezel. Major phone companies such as OPPO, VIVO, and Xiomi have all worked on adopting moving fronts for front-facing camera. The OPPO Find X, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and Honor Magic 2 are also going to come with manual sliding mechanisms.
Though Huawei hasn’t made a formal announcement, Magic 2 will have a 6.39-inch 2340 x 1080 OLED display. Magic 2 will support an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Huawei’s new Kirin 980 processor. The camera on Honor Magic 2 is to be a triple-camera setup i.e 16MP + 24MP + 16MP. It will come in a couple of equally iridescent color ways too. It has a 16MP camera, and two TOF lenses for 3D face unlock. There is no microSD card slot though. It will have 8GB of RAM, and it will run Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0.
Honor Magic 2 comes with 40W super fast charge with 15 layers of safety protection and auto identification of three critical parts. It will be powered by a 3,400mAh battery.
