Ford has been doing a lot of new stuff, but their Ford Edge ST, which was turned into a camera car was beyond expectations. And it seems like a boon for movie directors as they had a lot of problems to shoot car scenes. But the question now appears to be solved by Ford’s new camera car. Ford Edge ST is a high-performance car, and it has now become a budding cinematographer.
Ford has collaborated with Pursuit Systems to make their Ford Edge ST installed with a roof-mounted camera rig which facilitates an excellent filming experience, be it any high-speed chases, or action sequences, and any television commercials. “Speed, acceleration, braking, handling, even roominess – Edge ST has it all,” praised Mike Johnson, who is the president and CEO of Pursuit Systems. He further explained that “Our shoots often demand a lot of the equipment we use, and especially the vehicles. In every way, Edge ST measures up.”
To make Edge ST a camera car, the engineers had to place a 100-pound pursuit arm, which is a rear-mounted camera crane which makes it easy to get nearer to the scene. Ford had to do a lot of stuff, from tuning the engine, fixed the interior and body to withstand and accommodate the extra load and to place the screens at a convenient place, and worked on the suspension to make it less shaky. So, this seems to be the camera vehicle for future films!
