Get ready for MediaTek’s new chip system as we will soon get it on the mid-range smartphones according to announced made today. According to reports, this new chipset will be making its way into the semi-med range devices and will be focussing more on the AI task. This new chip from MediaTek is being called as the “MediaTek Helio P70,’ and it is the successor of the of formerly released Helio P60 system.

This new chipset will also bring improvement both in overall performance and AI-intensive tasks and will resolve the performance issues faced in its predecessor, the Helio P60. The new chipset is also a power efficient device and has brought more enhancements in its clock-speed. MediaTek claims that devices using this chipset will experience longer battery life and less heat during an extensive. According to them, there will be 4.5ºC lower temperature if compared to its competing chipsets.
The Helio P70 is an octa-core processor including 4 ARM Cortex-A73 cores at 2.1 GHz and 4 ARM Cortex-A53 cores at 2.0GHz. It also comes with a GPU of Mali-G72 MP3 which has a base clock speed of 900 MHz. The process incorporated while building this SoC is the TSMC 12nm FinFET production process. According to MediaTek, the processor provides much faster performance which can yield up to 13% increment. This SoC also supports 20:9 displays at Full HD+ resolution which will enhance the overall design of the device to a greater extent.
In terms of AI efficiency, this new Helio P70 is 10-30% more efficient than the P60. Gaming will be pretty fast as it is claimed by MediaTek, according to them, many enhancements such as ‘unique multi-threading optimizations’ and many other things have been incorporated into this chip and compared to P60, Helio P70 will provide 7% better DOU on modern heavy games and up to 35% lower power. This chip is also powerful enough to handle a 24+16MP dual camera or a single 32MP camera capable of capturing at 30 fps.
According to many reports, this chipset is powerful enough to back an LPDDR4X RAM of 8 GB while 4 GB LPDDR3 type is also supported. It supports a max display resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels while the storage type is eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.1.
