Google has now finally made it possible to track where a user left his phone using its Find My Device, with a precise location of the area or room. Google has added a feature which will let users locate their phone inside a big building. This is a result of Google’s years of hard work of collecting data and recording the layouts of different malls and superstores and all the different places. So, from now on, if you lose your phone, you will not just know that it is in a big building, but you will also know exactly where your device has been dropped.
This is really a boon for those who usually forget their cell phones at different store counters or at similar places. Find My Device will also be able to make work profiles in the upcoming update. After this exciting news I have served, there is still a catch. There is no data on which buildings’ layouts are available on Google’s tracker app. This is a new feature so it will be probably showing layouts of a limited number of buildings, but it will be surely updated frequently.
As we know, GPS is always a bit off, especially in remote areas where there are a lot of devices being used. So, there are definitely some concerns about the new advancement by Google, but overall it is undoubtedly a welcome move!
