Logitech has got no chill, seriously. It has recently announced that it is going to take over Blue Microphones, but it is not stopping at there. I know Blue Microphones acquisition was announced four months back, but it is still not too much time to make another purchase, in fact, a massive one. Logitech is reportedly looking to acquire Platronics, and it is offering as much as $2.2 billion for the deal.
If this deal is done, it will be the most significant buy from Logitech, regarding money. Purchasing Plantronics will facilitate a lot for Logitech, mainly its lineup of PC and mobile accessories. For those who do not know what Plantronics manufacture (or those who would not Google it), Plantronics is a Bluetooth headset maker. It makes earphones and headphones, office headsets, and other accessories.
The deal might be in the final stages, and it is an attempt to lower manufacturing costs and to alleviate the impact of legislation on the import of Chinese products. Plantronics is a well-known manufacturer in the field of sports wireless headphones and earbuds, and it still makes traditional Bluetooth earpieces. The company also claims that Neil Armstrong’s first words were through a Plantronics headset, raising the brand value.
