Sling TV is one of the cheapest sources of watching TV, and it is counted as one of the major streaming service providers. However, this year is quite disappointing for Sling as it has not performed as it usually does. This year, Sling has managed to attract only 26,000 in the third quarter, as informed by the parent company Dish.
Sling TV accounted for 41,000 new subscribers in the second quarter of this year, and 91,000 in the first quarter. This clearly shows that the streaming service is experiencing a significant downfall in new customers. Noticeably, in the third quarter of last year, Sling managed to gain 240,000 new subscribers, and it really depicts how the scenario has changed over a year.
The major cause is the price, as Sling has increased the price of its basic Orange subscription. Orange subscription was for $19.99, but now it costs $25. A lot of people might be thinking that $5 is not a big deal, but for those who are trying to save the maximum are affected for sure.
Apart from the price, Sling has ended contracts with a few channels such as HBO and Cinemax which is also another backlash for Sling. Sling had some issues with WarnerMedia, so the channel are not available on the streaming service. Moreover, Univision has also removed its channels from Sling as it also had similar issues with Sling.
Sling has introduced a lot of attractive plans to allure customers, but it would be interesting to see whether their plan works or not!
