Samsung Galaxy Core may not be as powerful as other members of family but it is capable enough to perform daily tasks without a hitch. It has an average 4.3″ display with a ppi of 217. It is not among the best but still very good. It has a Dual Core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A5 processor based on Snapdragon MSM8225 S4 Play chipset. 1 GB of RAM is is not so bad if go back a little in time. Just kidding! However, having such a wonderful device in hand encourages us to mess with it. Its currently running old Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) OS where other devices are running Android 4.2.2 or higher. Only way to get that is to install custom ROMs and by installing custom mods.

Before we proceed further, we need a BACKUP to protect your data:Updating is a crucial procedure. You might lose data during the process. Therefore, we advise you to backup your important data before proceeding further. If there are any images or any other media files on your phone’s internal storage, you must save it in your computer’s hard drive.   •  Later you can upload this file to an online storage like Dropbox, Drive or Skydrive for safekeeping

  •  Your contacts are now in a  backup file
  • This is how you backup your contacts to a vCard. The advantage of vCard is that you can send it to any other mobile any use it. You can make a new vCard file every week to store new contacts and delete old vCard files.

1.1Import Contacts from vCard:

  • Impoting contacts from a vCard is very simple
  • You just need to hit the menu button in contacts app
  • Select “Import Contacts”
  • Select the file you want to restore
  • Click on “ok”
  • You will also be asked if you want to import them to phone storage (Local Contacts) or to your google account. Google account is preferrable
  • Your contacts will be restored

2.Save contacts with an app:

There are several apps available on Google Play Store which can backup contacts. We recommend MC Backup app.

  • First install this app from Play Store
  • Open MC Backup app
  • You can open settings tab and select desired option like saving contact picture etc
  • Hit “backup” button
  • All contacts will be backed up
  • Now you can save this vcf file in any online storage or e-mail yourself
  • You can downlaod and use this file anytime

3.Sync contacts with Google Account:

This method is most easy and highly recommended. All Android users must use this method.

  • Go to Settings
  • Open your Google account
  • Select “sync contacts”
  • All your contacts will be synced forever
  • You can always import from google account
  • Enable auto-sync for better functionality

Backup Messages:

  • First download SMS Backup and Restore app from Play Store
  • Open this app
  • Select “Backup Option”
  • Now select the folder where you want to store your messages
  • You can select a custom folder or default folder
  • Be sure to save this file from being deleted by a reset or format by copying it to your computer or uploading it to an online storage
  • If it asks for permission, give it permission to access messages and contacts
  • You can select a custom file name
  • After you tap “Ok”, all you messages will be backed up

Restore Messages:

  • To restore messages, open the app
  • Click on “Restore” button
  • Select your backup file
  •  You can also select the time frame for restoring messages from a specific time
  • Click on “ok”
  • All messages will be restored
  • Reboot your smartphone after restore

Important Precautions:1. Install ADB and Fastboot Drivers on your computer:DB stands for “Android Debug Bridge”. 2.Install essential USB Drivers:

After you have installed ADB and Fastboot drivers, connect your device to computer. It will download and install essential USB Drivers itself.

3.Battery must be charged over 50%:

Rooting process is very crucial. Any mistake can lead to a mishap. One of the most common mistakes is low battery. It poses a threat while rooting process is going on and phone shuts down due to low battery. Always remeber to keep your phone charged above 50% to avoid any such mishap.

4.Check your phone Model:

Always confirm that the guide you are following is for your device. You can learn about your device’s model name by navigating to Settings>About Phone. After you have confirmed your phone model, you can proceed further.

6.Backup all your important Data:

Normally, rooting process does not wipe out your data but to be on the safe side, it is advisable to backup your data so that you can recover it in case of data wipe. If you are using a SD Card, remove it before rooting and insert it again after rooting has been done. Backup all data on internal storage on your computer. Backup messages and contacts by using methods described above.

6.Be careful to use correct file for rooting:

Sometimes we have lots of files, having similar names put together in same folder. Accidently, we can use a wrong file which can result in bricking device. Therefore, it is advisable to put specific files for your device in a seprate folder. This way, you will not be mistaken.

7.Get Developer Options Enabled:

In android 4.2.2, developer options are hidden. Developer option are provided for development purposes like rooting itself. It is second-last tab but you may not find it yet. To activate Developer Options you need to navigate to Settings>About Phone. Tap build number about 7  times until you get a popup saying your are a developer.

8.Disable Firewall or Anti-Virus Programmes:

These files can interrup this process. That is why it is recommended to disable firewall/anti-virus before proceeding further.

9.Enable Unknown Sources:

This is very important for this rooting method to work.  To do so, navigate to Settings>Security>Unknown Sources and tick it.


Rooting Process

This is a very easy method and it will root your smartphone directly from your smartphone. Do not remove battery during whole procedure.


  • Download Framaroot Apk {Update} Download latest Framaroot app version Here
  • Install it on your smartphone. To do so, follow this Guide
  • After you have installed it, open Framaroot –à “Install SuperSU
  • Tap on Legolas and wait for success popup
  • If it doesn’t work, tap on Aragorn
  • Succcess popup will appear shortly
  • Reboot your device
  • As soon as phone will turn on, your device will be rooted!
